The Game

The Castle of Deception is a live, immersive social-deduction game inspired by the show The Traitors, where trust is dangerous and nothing is accidental. Guests are secretly assigned a role of a "Faithful" or "Traitor" and must survive a night of accusations, banishments, masked murders, and dramatic reveals while trying to expose the liars — or conceal their own betrayals. Throughout the Castle, players can hunt for shields that offer protection from murder by solving riddles, uncovering clues hidden in plain sight, or tipping the bartender for information and advantage. ​The game unfolds in rounds. Each round will test how well you observe, how convincingly you lie, and how quickly you turn on one another.  Rounds will repeat until only a few of you remain. With every round, alliances shift, protections disappear, and the truth becomes harder to see. By the end, only those who have watched closely, lied convincingly, or trusted at exactly the right moment will remain.

BANISHMENTS

Banishment rounds are where suspicion becomes action.  You will hear a gong, then gather together and decide who should no longer remain in the game.

 

You must: â€‹

  • Speak freely.

  • Accuse boldly.

  • Then vote.

 

The two players with the most votes are banished immediately. No appeals. No mercy.  They will have a moment for a farewell comment and to announce whether they are a Faithful or a Traitor.

MURDERS

During this round, all players will be masked. No one speaks. No one moves. When instructed, the Traitors will be the only ones allowed to remove their masks and silently choose the player(s) they want to murder.​

Remember: â€‹

  • The Traitors choose which player(s) they would like to murder.

  • Players with a shield can protect themselves from murder. 

  • Anywhere from 1-3 people will be murdered each round.

  • Murdered players will be notified in between Round Tables. So sorry for our loss.​

FINAL ROUND

When only a few remain, the game changes. There are no more murders and no more shields. This is the final round where there will be nowhere left to hide. There will be no more protection or excuses.

Final players will: â€‹

  • Speak openly
  • Accuse freely
  • Vote repeatedly until the game ends

If all Traitors are banished, the Faithful win and take home the prize pot. If even one Traitor survives, the Traitors win the prize pot.  

 

Simple, really.

SHIELDS

Want to protect yourself from MURDER? Throughout the castle, riddles and games await you. Some reward observation. Some reward intellect. Some reward nothing at all. Protection may also be influenced by information, and information is rarely free. The bar is well informed. What is shares, or gives, may depend on your generosity. 

 

THE RULES

  • Your role is secret, never reveal it. 

  • If you are a traitor, do not out another Traitor...ever!

  • Once the game begins, assume you are being watched. And, most likely judged. 

  • Speak freely during gameplay. 

  • No phones during the rounds. 

  • Shields protect from murder only (not banishment), and only for one round of your choice. Choose wisely. 

  • Once murdered or banished, you can no longer participate in rounds, but can still watch, listen, and influence.

  • The Host’s word is final. â€‹
